The Ice House. A corpse is found in the ice house in an English village, and there are plenty of candidates for who might be the victim - and why. Kirkus Reviews said: "Unholy passions seethe inches beneath a proper surface: a brutal, literate debut--especially welcome to fans of Ruth Rendell." Crime Writers Association called it the debut of the year and gave it the JOhn Creasey Award.
