September 5, 1971. NBC tries something new: a rotating "wheel" of 90-minute crime stories. The original trio were all classics:
Columbo, McCloud, and
McMillan and Wife. Over the next five years the show changed days, lengths, spun off a clone, and added other series. Some highlights included,
Quincy ME, Banacek, Lanigan's Rabbi, and
Hec Ramsey.
